Couples Counselling

Butterflies“The concept of two people living together for twenty five years without a serious dispute suggests a lack of spirit only to be admired in sheep.”  – A.P.Herbert.

Most couples experience difficulties in their relationship at some point and can get stuck in a cycle of arguments, blame and withdrawal from each other.   You may need to identify what you want from your lives together, as this can change over time. Learning to deconstruct rows and resolve conflict in a safe supportive environment with a non judgemental empathic facilitator can help you to reconnect with your partner. Maybe you are unsure of what your needs are or how to get them met – counselling together can help you find out.

Couples seek help for a variety of reasons.   Sometimes to resolve a specific issue, sometimes to enrich their relationship, and sometimes to work towards ending.   You may not have the same agenda.  Working with couples is different – I work  with your relationship, not you as individual clients.  I will be seeking to build an understanding, trust and a connection with you both, but I will not collude or take sides.

You may be dealing with any number of stressful situations or life changes such as parenting, work related pressures, family problems, infertility, an affair or betrayal of trust, bereavement, retirement, aging, illness, intimacy or sexual issues.  Facing these challenges without support can be tough.  Having a confidential space to share them and to find a way forward can make a real difference.

I have been working with couples for 15 years and recently updated my qualifications with a certificate in couples counselling from Surrey Counselling Training.

Couples Counselling Sessions cost £80 per hour.
